DEPARTMENT OF EXECUTIVE DEVELOPMENT AND CONSULTANCY
(EDC):
The EDC Department is a new department that was created in line with the establishment of Centre for Advanced Studies in Corporate Governance, Entrepreneurship and Finance (CASCEF), This came as reorganisation and integration of the Executive Development, Research and Consultancy (EDRC) Department (which was originally based in the Directorate of Graduate School) into the Centre.
One of the intentions of the reorganisation was to allow the Graduate School Directorate to concentrate on the running of postgraduate programmes that have, since its establishment, grown to 14 from a mere 3.
The second intention was for the Research and Publication activities to revamp staff seminars and regular public lectures at IFM, which are an important platform for sharing research outputs and debates on current issues. This then was considered to be an important step in elevating the research profile of the Institute. Finally and equally important, the integration of EDRC into the Centre averts duplication of the research and publications functions if the Centre and EDRC were to co-exist.
Therefore, EDRC was split into two departments: the Research and Publication department (RPD) and Executive Development and Consultancy (EDC).
The EDC department is responsible for the running of Executive Development Programmes as well as consultancy functions. In a course of the centre forging strong links with the industry it is expected to boost the potential of securing more consultancy assignments.
The basic aim of the EDC department is to play part to the Institute of Finance management’s mission that it will respond to the needs of the industry/community and stakeholders as created by reform programmes and development of the public and private sectors through regular curriculum review, action-oriented research, consultancy and publications.
