1. Caution Money
Caution money of Tshs 50,000 is paid for Diploma, First year of Degree, Postgraduate Diploma and Masters courses only.
2. Books and Stationery Allowance
A Minimum amount of Tshs 300,000 for books and stationery is recommended
to be paid directly to both under and postgraduate students as book
and stationery allowance.
3. Meal Allowance
A recommended amount of Tshs 1,190,000/= (or more depending on the
sponsor’s financial capability) per year should be paid directly
to students as meal allowance. The Institute does not provide this
service. The rate is subject to change as per government directives.
Government sponsored in-service students are normally paid a meal
allowance of Tshs 10,000 per day.
4. Calculator
Sponsors are also requested to pay students an allowance of Tshs
30,000 or more depending on market prices for buying a scientific
calculator.
5. Fieldwork Attachment Allowance
Sponsors are requested to pay students a fieldwork allowance of
Tshs 468,000. This is applicable to first and second year Degree
students only.
6. Fieldwork Supervision Fees
Sponsors are requested to pay the Institute Tshs 100,000/= as fieldwork
supervision fees for first and second year students only. Post graduate Diploma Tshs 300,000/= and Masters Tshs 400,00/= .
7. Other Fees
- Application: Tshs 40,000 for undergraduate and Tshs 50,000 for
postgraduate and master’s applicants.
- Registration: Tshs 50,000 for each student per year.
- Student Identity Card: Tshs 10,000 for a new identity card and
Tshs 15,000/= for replacement.
- Matriculation: Tshs 20,000 per candidate.
All fees should be paid through the Institute’s bank account

Tower Branch Dar es Salaam. Original pay-in slips should
be deposited at the IFM Cash office and a receipt will be issued.

FEE STRUCTURE FOR BSc. IN COMPUTER SCIENCE
OF THE DUBLIN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY (DIT)
A: FEES PAYABLE DIRECTLY TO THE INSTITUTE
1. APPLICATION FEE:
Every applicant should pay to the Institute an application fee
amounting to Tshs. 40,000/= beginning the academic year 2009/2010.
This is a non refundable fee to cover for the costs of processing
an application at IFM.
2. REGISTRATION FEE
All dully registered students will be required to pay a registration
fee of Tshs. 50,000/=.
3. TUITION FEES
This is a four (4) years Course. Tuition fee is € 900.00
per year. At least 50% should be paid during or before registration.

4. CAUTION MONEY
Caution money of Tshs. 50,000 is paid for all undergraduate students
admitted at IFM. The amount is refundable at the end of the programme

Amount equals to Tshs. 10,000/= should be paid for a new card
or replacement of the old or lost one.
6. STUDENTS’ UNION FEE
All registered student will be required to pay a fee of Tshs.
10,000/= as subscription to IFM Students’ Union (IFMSO)
B: FEES PAYABLE DIRECT TO STUDENTS (May be requested from
Higher Education Student’s Loan Board)
1. SPECIAL FACULTY REQUIREMENT
Sponsors are requested to provide the students with the necessary
special faculty requirement including Laptops, Flash disk and
such facilities may cost up to TShs. 1,050,000/=

recommended to be paid directly to students.
3. FOOD/MEAL ALLOWANCE
A recommended amount of Tshs. 5,000/= per day for food/meals should
be paid directly to students by the sponsor as the Institute doesn’t
provide this service.
4. ACCOMODATION
The Institute has very limited accommodation, so hostel accommodation
at the Institute is not guaranteed. However, for those who will
manage to get accommodation the fee is Tshs. 400,000/= payable
during registration. A student wishing to stay in IFM hostel must
apply for accommodation separately.
5. FIELD/RESEARCH PROJECT
In order to cover the cost of field research project the Institute
recommend Tshs. 500,000/= to be paid directly to students.

Tuition fee is Tshs. 2,000,000 per programme duration. At least
50% should be paid during or before registration.

The amount is refundable at the end of the programme.
BOOK AND STATIONERY ALLOWANCE
A minimum amount of Tshs. 350,000/= for books and stationery is
recommended to be paid directly to students.
CALCULATOR
Sponsors are also requested to provide the students with a calculator
(preferably scientific). Currently a good scientific calculator
costs about Tshs. 35,000.
STUDENT IDENTITY CARD – Amount equals
to Tshs. 5,000/= should be paid for a new card or replacement
of the old or lost one.
FOOD/MEAL ALLOWANCE
A recommended amount of Tshs. 5,000/= per day for food/meals should

In order to cover the cost of research project paper the Institute
recommend Tshs. 500,000/= to be paid directly to students.
PROJECTS/DISSERTATION ADMINISTRATION
In order to cover the costs of administering research projects/dissertation
each student is required to pay Tshs. 200,000/= to the Institute.
APPLICATION FEE
Application fee is Tshs. 50,000. This is a non refundable cost
to cover the costs of processing application.

deposit and 450,000/= payable during registration and for Non
Tanzanian US $ 450 payable during registration. A student wishing

PROJECTS/DISSERTATION
In order to cover the cost of research project paper the Institute
recommend $1,000 to be paid directly to students.

INCIDENTAL
A minimum amount of USD 150 for incidental expenses is recommended
to be paid to students.
